FREE WARRANTY

This means exactly what it says. I will give any buyer a FREE WARRANTY for 7 days or 500 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty covers the engine, transmission, differential, brakes and suspension. I will either replace any part of these systems if they fail within the warranty period or will buy the vehicle back for 10% less than the selling price at my discretion. NOBODY else on Ebay offers a FREE WARRANTY of any kind. If a vehicle can go 500 miles without a mechanical incident, it likely isn’t going to have any problems in the near future.


VEHICLE USE HISTORY

It has always been in the low desert area of sunny Southern California, so there is no damage or rust from salt from the ocean or salted roads etc.

It was not a police undercover or pursuit vehicle, so it has never been abused and driven hard or left idling for thousands of hours like most of these cars have been. This also means there are no added holes in the exterior for radio equipment or police lights etc and there are no coffee stains on the seats.


FREEWAY VS CITY MILES

The miles on this vehicle are mostly from freeway driving which is far easier on a vehicle than stop and go city type driving.


IDLE HOURS

These cars have a meter that records how long the engine runs when the car is in park. The idle hours on this car are only 520, which is low for one of these vehicles.

The low idle hours are also representative of what they should have if the driver let it warm up for a few minutes when the car was first started for the day. The detective cars and undercover police cars typically easily have well over 1200 idle hours on them and often over 2,000 hours with mileage similar to what this one has.


STORAGE

It was always stored in an underground garage, so it is not sun baked like many of these cars are by now, and there is zero fading of any parts on the outside or inside. 


VEHICLE VALUE

Unless you are very familiar with these cars, it can be hard to determine what a reasonable price is for a nice deluxe model is, but if you search Ebay for sold listings, you will be able to get some idea, although it’s best to see the vehicles in person to be able to make the best comparison. Plus, this one comes with a free warranty.


SERVICE HISTORY

It was serviced every 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever came first, which is more frequent then the dealer schedule.

The suspension was also inspected for wear.


POSITRACTION DIFFERENTIAL

This has a factory posi unit with 3:27 gears, which are the 'freeway' gears for this model, so it gets good mileage. It is incredibly rare to find one of these cars that has a posi with 3.27 gears because they were not used as pursuit vehicles when they had 3.27 gears, therefore, the municipalities typically didn’t spend the extra money for the optional posi unit. All the patrol cars do have posi but they also all have 3.50 gears, which offers quicker acceleration but also uses more gas and revs the engine higher at all times when driving so it wears out quicker than a car with 3.27 gears.

It is possible to add a posi unit to these differentials but the minimumcost is around $1600.00 and may be more, so this is something to bear in mind if you want a car with posi.


FUEL TYPE

This car is capable of using both normal low octane gas and E85 gas. The E85 gas is around $1.00 less a gallon than normal low octane gas, so you can save a lot of money using that if you want.


OPTIONS

It is loaded with options such as, pw, pdl, ps, ac, ABS pdb, power mirrors, tilt wheel, 6 way power seat.

It also has cruise control and an am/fm radio with a factory CD player which is extremely rare in these vehicles.


SQUEAKS AND RATTLES

Even some new cars have a minor squeak or rattle when driving over a rough road, however, this car as absolutely none whatsoever.


WINDOW TINT

It windows are tinted from the factory, but darker tint has been applied to keep it cool inside in the blazing California heat.


AIR CONDITIONING

I drove the car for 5 minutes with the ac on the other day when it was 100 degrees outside, then checked the air temperature at the center vents with an infra red gun and it was 36 frosty degrees. After a few more minutes it got so cool inside the car that I had to turn the ac down to low.


ENGINE TEMPERATURE

It never gets over the factory setting of 195 degrees even when left idling for 30 minutes with the ac on when it is 100 degrees outside.


BRAKES

The car stops perfectly straight when hitting the brakes hard form 40 mph with no hands on the steering wheel.

The rotors are smooth with no heavy grooves.


STEERING

There is zero free play. If you move the steering wheel just 1/4', the car starts to turn.


ENGINE

It has zero oil leaks or abnormal noises or ticking sounds etc and runs like new and never smokes.


TRANSMISSION

No leaks or noises and it does not 'spin up' or slip at all between sifts. It shifts extremely solid just like it did when it was new.


SUSPENSION

No squeaks or rattles or klunks when going over bumps etc, and the shock absorbers perform like new. It has also been regularly inspected and serviced.


HUB CAPS

The hub caps on these cars are often dull and faded and scratched up, and cost around $300.00 for new ones, fortunately, the hub caps on this car look virtually like new.


TIRES

It has the very expensive original style Goodyear RSA’s with around 80% tread left with no uneven wear or scalloping on any of them and there are no dry cracks.


ENGINE COMPARTMENT

It had 12 years worth of dust on it from driving it, so I sprayed it with simple green then rinsed the dust off and wiped it down with a silicone and oil free protectant and it looks nearly like it rolled off the showroom floor. There was no oil or grease build up, and the plating on all the hardware is still nice and not surface rusted like it is on some of these cars. All the original factory paint daub marks and decals are still there and they all look nearly like new.

The aluminum heads and timing belt covers do not have any oxidation.

The paint on the underside of the hood still looks very nice with no surface corrosion or staining etc.

These cars are often missing the black plastic engine cover with the 'V8' logo on it but this one has it which makes the engine look nicer.


UNDERCARRIAGE

I will post more photos soon but it looks nearly as clean as the engine compartment.


INSIDE THE WHEEL WELLS

All the wheel wells look spotless just like the right rear wheel in the photo.


BODY

No rust or dents or waves or dings or dents or large door dings or bondo.


PAINT

The paint was just professionally clayed then polished and waxed, so it is as smooth as glass and shines like it did when it rolled off the showroom floor. It is very nice overall, and is far nicer than most police interceptors. It is not heavily scratched up like it is on many of these cars that are used by detectives and under cover police etc, and there is no peeling or bubbling, however, there are a few very small chips around 1/32 of an inch that are hard to see and a couple scratches but they don’t don’t blatantly stand out when looking at the car from a few feet away.

One thing to look closely at on the police interceptor models is the paint on the hood, because many of them get literally hundreds of very small cracks in it, which can only been seen from close up, or can easily be seen from 10 feet away after waxing the hood because the wax will get stuck in the cracks and can’t be removed. These cracks are caused from letting them idle for long periods in the hot sun. The paint on the hood, roof, and deck lid of this car has zero cracks, and zero sun damage.


INTERIOR

It is in presentable condition with no scratches on any of the plastic and no wear on the seats, but the front seat bottoms are just slightly dingy but not bad at all and should clean up fairly easily although they look presentable as they are. The drivers seat foam feels like new and is not smashed down from having a heavy driver in it.

There is no fading from the sun on the tops of the doors or dash pad and the steering wheel looks like new.

All the print on the buttons and knobs looks like new as though they have never even been used.


DASH VENTS

The dash vents all work properly and switch from dash to floor to windshield like they should, however, they do not operate properly on some of these Crown Victoria’s, so you should make sure they work properly on any vehicle you are interested in.
